Our photographer was on the scene at South African Fashion Week. Here are some of the top trends he spotted at the shows.

LADYLIKE SILHOUETTE
A circular skirt worn with skyscraper stilettos cuts a poised figure. Model Millen Magese (@Ladivamillen) pairs varying shades of neutrals to take the look seamlessly from day to night

BOLD JEWELLERY
Bold jewellery was everywhere at SAFW – from septum nose piercings to chunky neckpieces and John Lennon-style sunglasses (but outside only please!). Add a Simon and Mary bowler hat and you’re good to go.

DAPPER TAILORING
Fit is everything. This year, it was the gents who cut a fine figure in well-tailored suits worn with flair. Jacob Naledi (co-founder of men’s suiting brand @BespokePHR) adds energy with a patterned tie and pocket square.

DENIM AND LACE
Pairing a feminine fabric like lace with a more masculine denim button down shirt and tie is an unexpectedly chic combo. The result is both soft and edgy. Love! Here, fashion ed and trend forecaster Zakirah Rabaney (@zakirah_rabaney) gets it so right!

STATEMENT BAG
Small bags can make a big impression. Large enough for the essentials (phone, keys, lipstick). Queen Lala (@queenlala11) and her statement clutch know the perfect way to up the ante of a pared down look.

BOLD PRINTS
African prints are everywhere which is why we are obsessing over fashion student Mpho Dlodlo’s (@mphodlodlo)  bold, printed pants. Add a stacked heel and plenty of accessories for a look that’s totally on point.
